STORY

THE ADEPT's first issue tells the deep and personal story of a young woman who begins a journey to become  the adept to an ancient martial tradition which has been lost to the ages. It is a story of action, transformation and mystery, but at its core it is about homecoming. And what’s homecoming without a chance for redemption? And you know what ALWAYS comes with redemption…?

KUNG-FU - ok not always. But ours does!

We couldn’t be more excited to kick off this limited series, the first in the Immortal interconnected Wuxia content universe.

Welcome to THE ADEPT!

THE ADEPT is about Amy, a young Chinese-American who runs away from an abusive home, destined to be another orphan street thug.

But then she is visited in her dreams by a Shaolin Kung Fu Master, who begins to train her in the wilds of this Dreamscape, preparing her to face an unnamed evil that he'll never speak about.  The dreams give her meaning – purpose – the training empowers her – and she learns to cope.  But why her?

Amy scores tickets too a benefit concert for Ali's favorite singer - Sasha True. An international sensation, famous for catchy lyrics, flashy dance moves and a beat with a killer hook.  (Sasha is more than what she seems, and when the going gets tough her "true" colors will be revealed)

Then, with no warning, the dreams just stop. And just as suddenly as he came into her life, he's gone.  Was he just a figment of her imagination?

It’s now been ten years and Amy comes home again, hoping to rekindle the relationship with Ali, the younger sister she once abandoned. Ali has had her own trauma and pain in that time, but she covers it up with a carefree, carpe-diem attitude.  If you don't think about your pain, did it ever really happen?

What could possibly derail the reunion of the estranged sisterhood?

Bad guys. When a kidnapping attempt targets Sasha, Amy has no choice but to break out her Shaolin skill learned from her dreams.  But this is no amateur kidnapping, it's a well-organized attack from a shadowy operation.

And then, among the commotion…a surprise. She comes face to face with the Shaolin Master from her dreams. Wu-what indeed.

We can’t wait to introduce you to Amy, Ali, Fa Sheng, and Sasha and we’ve got much to unpack over this series. Where has Amy been? Why did the dreams choose her? What is this shadowy organization and how is it connected to the Shaolin Master? And hold up, the Shaolin Master is real?
